A baby shower party should be organized and hosted by a baby shower planner, preferably a female who may be a close friend or family friend. The baby shower planner can arrange for the baby shower celebration to be held in a restaurant, cafe, or at someone’s home. Traditionally, only females are invited by the baby shower organizer to the baby shower party. Nowadays, males are also included in the baby shower party.
A huge reason for having a baby shower party is to relieve the financial strain that the family will face with the arrival of the new child. The baby shower organizer will discuss with the expectant parents what baby gift items they require, and prepare a gift registry. The presence of the gift registry should be made known to guests attending the baby shower party. The gift registry should also indicate to guests which are the more expensive baby gift items that they can share when bringing something to the baby shower party.
The baby shower organizer will then set a date and time for the baby shower celebration, after consulting with the expectant parents. A baby shower celebration can be held at least two months before the arrival of the baby, or one to two months after baby’s arrival. A baby shower celebration before baby’s birth will allow first-time parents to know what baby gift items they have received, and still have time for obtaining the baby gift items that are lacking. Having a baby shower celebration after baby’s arrival allows guests to meet the baby and buy baby gift items that are specific to the baby’s gender.
The guest list for the baby shower party will consist of people the expectant mother would like to see at the baby shower celebration. The baby shower planner will then proceed with preparing the baby shower invitation. Guests of the baby shower party can be invited over the telephone, through electronic invites, or with printed invitation. Important information that has to be included in the baby shower invitation would be date, time and location address of the baby shower celebration; contact details of the baby shower planner; party theme; gift registry information; and options for RSVP to the baby shower party, as well as response deadline. The baby shower organizer should send out the baby shower invitation at least three weeks before the baby shower celebration date, allowing guests ample time for response to the baby shower invitation and to purchase baby gift items indicated in the gift registry.
